“A Muslim is the brother of another Muslim. He does not oppress him, nor leave him at the mercy of others.” – Sahih Muslim

Food & Shelter

nzf

Some of the basic necessities of life we take for granted are Food & Shelter.

How often do we think about where I will sleep tonight or what will I eat tomorrow? For many Muslims who are living in our own local community ask these questions daily. They beg on the streets, sleep in abandoned buildings & bus stops, being taken advantage of by criminals, abandoning their children and even being forced into prostitution to provide for themselves and their families to survive.

Read just a few of the cases of our
own brothers and sisters within our community:

Women & Childrennzf

Women and children are severely affected by the financial crisis within their families. As mothers cannot see their children suffer they are often forced into selling the one thing they own to feed their children, themselves!

Homelessness, hunger and crippling debt have an enormous impact on elements of our community, to which we are typically unawares. In many cases children are malnourished and also require emotional support to understand and cope with their situation. The most unfortunate part to all this is that so many cases we studied and the neglect they feel from their own Muslim community locally who are doing nothing to help them. Ask yourself this question; What would you give to make sure your Mother, Sister, Daughter or child didn’t go through what has just been described to you?

What is National Zakat Foundation Doing?nzf

The National Zakat Foundation channels the Zakat of the Muslims upon whom the obligation applies locally through Donation Packages immediately and we are also currently working to establish a women’s shelter in Birmingham, UK, to house Muslim sisters in need and to support them with Zakat funds. The Shelter will provide these sisters with a place to stay, food, counseling and resources to help them become self sufficient financially.

The NZF is gaining increasing support, recently having been appointed the charity of choice for the Islamic Bank of Britain.

How can you help?nzf

The minimum cost of just providing a basic food package costs £50.00 per single person and £100.00
per family
. Accommodation costs are £250.00 and in many cases both have to be provided. We are
in continuous need of your support financially to sustain these families and many more who keep on
coming to us.

Donate to us on a monthly basis with your Zakat and Sadaqah as it helps us to count on your
donation to support either a single person or a family or to provide accommodations. You can also
give us a one time donation in the form of Zakat or Sadaqah. Currently we are making a Shelter for
Women who are homeless and we are in need of raising £250,000.
