Melbourne Madinah.
The Melbourne Madinah is the largest and most groundbreaking undertaking the Mercy Mission (MM) Australia team have worked on thus far. Purposefully named, the Melbourne Madinah aims to provide an additional space in the heart of Melbourne for the Ummah to congregate and grow together.
This multipurpose Melbourne Madinah is a two storey 1165 sqm (approx) building located at 36 La Trobe Street, Melbourne. Youth development initiatives, children’s education, female focused activities, regular halaqas, short courses, professional development training and community welfare projects are just a few of the planned services the Melbourne Madinah will house insha’Allah. Amidst this hive of activity will also be the Mercy Mission Melbourne headquarters.. Being able to create the Melbourne Madinah within the Melbourne CBD to serve the growing demand of Melbourne Muslim community development is truly a blessing from Allah Subhanaha wa ta’la.
The Mercy Mission ethos of ‘helping people to help others’ will be the crux of this Madinah. Building piety, selflessness, self-sufficiency and confidence will be central to all projects conducted at the Madinah. These essential values, incorporated into the Mercy Mission Vision offer a steady framework for all services provided to the public.
The Melbourne Madinah will interface with other established Mercy Mission Madinahs in major cities around the world. They are one of the most successful Mercy Mission initiatives and prove to be groundbreaking wherever they are established – we have faith Melbourne Madinah will be no different.
The Madinah is now in operation as of Ramadan 2011.
