Twins of Faith: For the love of God’ a success!
After months of preparation and planning, along with the usual challenges and setbacks, we can now look back at the biggest Islamic event of the year and say that it was a huge success, Alhamdulillah!
Over eight thousand people from all over the UK attended Mercy Mission’s first annual UK event, the ‘Twins of Faith: For the love of God’ on 19th November at the Excel Centre in London.
The event was sponsored and supported by a host of world-renowned organisations such as The British Museum, PricewaterhouseCoopers, HSBC Amanah, National Scout Association, British Heart Foundation, Channel S, ARY, Darussalam Publishers, The Muslim Weekly, The Muslim Post, MuslimStickers.com, Al Muntada, Islamic Bank of Britain, Evolution Group, EnKhanz Platinum, Pure Matrimony and many others.
Dr. Tawfique Chowdhury, Director of Mercy Mission said: “I am delighted at the turnout to this wonderful event and the atmosphere. A smashing 8,000+ crowd enjoyed a day filled with excellent speeches and entertainment. I would like to thank all those who attended and am touched by the generosity of the people of the UK who donated generously for the sister’s shelter, which we will be opening soon insha’Allah.”
Some of the world’s most amazing and talented speakers gave heart-warming and inspirational lectures to a packed out audience in the main auditorium. The audience were kept glued to their seats from the begining, with the beautiful opening recitation of Qur’an from Qari Muhammad Uthman Al Qasim to Sheikh Tawfique Chowdhury’s inspirational opening speech and Nouman Ali Khan’s monumental and memorable first UK appearance, amongst others. There was also the wit and emotion of Sheikh Alaa ElSayed and Sheikh Yahya Ibrahim and wisdom of Sheikh Haitham Al-Haddad and Sheikh Navaid Aziz.
In between the talks there were amazing live performances by Boonaa Mohammed, Abdullah Rolle and Junaid Jamshed as well as a live shahadah of a new Muslim performed by Sheikh Tawfique Chowdhury. In addition, the conference hosted a range of workshops on various subjects including, career development, productivity, successful parenting, marriage with Sheikhs Alaa Elsayed and Yahya Ibrahim, da’wah with Hamza Tzortzis, Q&A with Sheikh Bilal Ismail and others which were all well attended and and for some there remained standing room only inside what became a full house.
The exhibition area was bustling throughout the day with people visiting the various stalls. Children enjoyed a fun and entertaining Little Explorers’ children’s zone with Uncle Jawad amongst bouncy castles and a variety of other activities.
This was truly an event to remember and hopefully those who attended went home inspired and with a greater love for Allah, the Messenger, their families, their Muslim brothers and sisters and the wider society. We also hope that people went away with a renewed zeal to make a positive contribution to their communities and the wider society.
We look forward to seeing everyone again next year, with an even bigger and better event insha’Allah!
