Melbourne Madinah

Mercy Mission Australia (MMA) has made hijrah!

From being a Virtual Organisation, MMA has grown so much it has migrated to a real life home – the Melbourne Madinah.

This month of Ramadhan (August 2011) brings Mercy Mission Australia’s migration, to its very own Madinah at 36 La Trobe St, Melbourne. Since announcing the endeavour at the 2011 Annual Australian Islamic Conference (AAIC), the MMA team has been busy scouring locations for a Melbourne Madinah. Alhamdulillah, Allah Subhana wa ta’la bestowed His mercy on the team by providing the new location for this bustling Madinah. All praise and thanks to Allah, the All Mighty!

In opening the Madinah, we aim to follow the footsteps of the Prophet (Peace be upon Him) by pursuing the Mercy Mission’s vision of a world where every Muslim is able to live faithfully to their belief, building an exemplary Islamic community that benefits humanity. We ask Allah the All Mighty to grant us the ability to use the Melbourne Madinah effectively in pursuit of this vision.

So let it be known that this Madinah is now open to all!

Just as the Muslims flourished in enterprise, education and innovation after their migration, in the same vein we hope to follow suit at our Madinah. Situated in the CBD the Melbourne Madinah is a unique facility that is available to service the community at large.

Mercy Mission thanks the various sponsors and donors for their generous support of this venture. We ask that Allah Subhana wa ta’la reward them greatly for their selflessness throughout the establishment of the Madinah.

We open our doors to all those who wish to visit and invite all who are interested, in sisterhood and brotherhood, to visit and make yourself at home at the Melbourne Madinah.

Melbourne Madinah, in the tradition of the Prophet (peace be upon him) endeavours to be a place of harmony, knowledge, friendship, community, learning, refuge, activity and fun. When our dear Prophet (peace be upon him) crept away in the darkness of night walking towards Madinah, he walked towards a vision of the future, with his trust in Allah Subahana wa ta’la and a prayer for a better world for the Muslims. Today we too walk in the shadow of our Prophet’s vision as his Ummah, and take steps towards our future- our Madinah.
